ABSTRACT

since 1993, 160 patients (28 of the patients were postlingual and 132 were prelingual) were implanted in the Iranian Institute of research & development.

The average age of the prelingually deaf patients was 6.5 years.

In this paper we discuss the way of controlling and reducing gusher.

Sometimes gusher can be one of the problematic aspects of this surgery. From the above mentioned, 6 showed gusher.

According to our data no CSF leakage has occurred following surgery.

Our results show a very low complication rate and comparable with those of prominent otological surgery centers internationally.
