ABSTRACT

The Iranian Cochlear Implant Center was formed in 1991 with the objective of cochlear implant technology to help profoundly pre and post lingual hearing impaired persons. Since the, over 400 children and adults benefited from this new sensation of hearing with their cochlear implant . This paper  presents the selection criteria, including medical, radiological, audioligical, speech and language and educational , present characteristics and outcomes in auditory performance, language development, speech intelligibility and social achievement.
