ABSTRACT After more than 2 years of study and research in order to provide the Cochlear Implant in Iran language, 15 out of 100 totally selected deaf patients (adults and children) up to now have undergone the Cochlear Implant operation. Cochlear implantation based on complete audio logical testing, ABR, CT -scanning and performance of the promontory test and psychological evaluation . Operation includes an extended end aural incision ,mastoidectomy, facial recess and cochleostomy .The test program includes recognition of vowels, consonants, monosyllabic and spondee words, question statement discrimination and comprehension. After 6 to 24 months post operation, training and follow up the patients have developed good auditory speech recognition and production. |
