ABSTRACT

Few years after the start of implanting profound bilateral deaf patients with Nucleus 22 multi-channel (Med-EI & 3M House) intra cochlear implants, the authors discuss the audio logical results in them . During this period, seventeen patients were implanted ,eight of them being postlingual and nine perlingual.


Out of the postlingual group, two were implanted by single-channel Med-EL device and six by Nucleus 22, ages ranging from 5 to 36 years at implantations. Out of the perlingual group, one was implanted by single-channel and eight by 22 -channel Nucleus devices (MSP & Spectra). They all have the majority of active electrodes working, only one patient having been a failure in the implant array.
